Gråsten Slot
Gråsten Palace
Gråsten Palace, located in the picturesque region of Southern Jutland, has a rich history as a royal summer residence. The current palace, built in 1759, is the third structure on the site since the 16th century.
In 1935, the palace was handed over to the then-Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Ingrid, who used it as their summer residence. Today, the palace is used by Her Majesty Queen Margrethe and the royal family during the summer months.
Although the palace itself is not open to the public, visitors can access the palace gardens when the royal family is not in residence. The palace garden is an English-inspired landscape garden that blends harmoniously with the natural surroundings of Southern Jutland. During the summer, visitors can enjoy the vibrant displays of large rose and perennial flower beds.
Gråsten Palace Church, located in the northern wing of the palace, is the only remaining part of Count Ahlefeldt's Baroque palace from the 17th century. The church is richly decorated, featuring an impressive altarpiece and around 80 paintings. It is used for public church services and cultural events.
